Why so angry??

Recently a story came out where a USA congresswoman was leading an effort to boycott the nation of Israel.  Israeli law prohibits people who want to boycott the nation from gaining entry into the country.  She then wrote them a letter requesting that she get a special opportunity to visit the country to visit her dying 90 yr old grandmother and promising she would not boycott the nation while there..  When the officials decided to make an exception and compensate her with entry, she went to the public and turned the indulgence down because she was so offended by what she claimed was Israeli racism that she would not want to be in the country.
But what about her dying grandmother?
Obviously she made vitriol against this nation a higher priority than visiting her grandmother. Which shows that her values of hatred override her values of family.  Now knowing the history of Palestine and it's engrained opposition to the Israelis it is much less surprising to see such vitriol.
But in this formula we have to remember the fact that this woman is an elected official.  Which means that she represents constituents who approve of such a demeanor.
This is what is most telling in that there is a spirit of anger in society that is filled with a natural bigotry.
When confronted by such hatred It is only natural to ask "why are they angry?  What will make them feel better?
In a way this congresswoman has given an answer that we do not like to here.
She may offer demands, and people may give into various demands but ultimately submission will only encourage more antagonism.  fighting fire with fire works but it only works temporarily.
What does the word say?
James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."

Power never satisfies.  The great lie of the world is that we only need more.  But at some pointwe either give up the pursuit or give up our lives.  For some people hate is their purpose.  Also for these people hate is their master.  We become so addicted in pride and wrath. We do not realize what we are giving up.
Humility is so hard for an angry person.  And yet humility is also a source of life.  So many people are trying to climb a great wall without looking down to see the ditch and tunnel to our destination.

At the cross we find that safe path. If we can humble ourselves to seeking God's grace we can have the reward we needed along.
The prodigal Son has to realize where he was, and when he finally humbled himself he found not only a chance to be a father's slave, but he found a loving father rushing to embrace him and celebrate his almost lost son.
