Leftism still alive among the Southern baptists even the "conservative evangelicals"

Todd M. Wells
This was on a mutual freinds facebook page November 14, monday afternoon.

Now I am not using this quote to smeer this individual.  Though we  argue highly on certain issues  he was a good friend,  good personality and faithful enough to the gospel to evangelize someone.

But I am recording a point here. This minister graduated from Southern Baptist theological Seminary.  He is proud of his schooling and had a good relationship with the faculty.
At the time he was on the side of the theological conservative neo-evangelical left.   1.

I recall him asserting the conservative doctrine of innerrancy and possibly he still does. But not interpreting the bible strictly litrally.   Denying the 7 day creation(2.),  denying the prophecies regardling the millenium(3.).  In both cases you are not accountable to the proper exposition, only denying the literal interpretation. (4.)

He like his peers pays much devotion and honor to those in the church growth and seeker sensative movement.  Especially Rick Warren. (5.) Although he himself planted a church and it is hard to read if that is his preferred model of church, though he approves of seeker sensative preachers.  This is not a shock seeing that much of Rick Warren's material was indoctrinated to us at that Seminary.

In recent years his positions have seem to drift further to the left.  For instance accepting theistic evolution; (6.)  demanding more and more sympathy of people on the left.  His Facebook page would become filled atheists, homosexuals, pagans etc.   All under the guise of reaching out.

But the scripture teaches,
2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. "

We have to be careful about excessive fellowship with the heathen. I believe there are spiritual influences that can bond to us.  Much like catching a cold, these influences may not draw at first but over time they can wear down the will.

Here, this minister who claims to be pro-life is emulating Barack Obama in his profile picture. A man who advocated in the Illinois state government for abortion to take place after the  Baby is born alive!
Obama has advocated many wicked things.  Homosexuality, racism, 3 wars,  helping the Mexican drug cartels by giving them guns, taking away American freedoms etc.

Now I don't deny he may still teach useful things in the scripture.  As far as I know he will still teach exclusive salvation.

But at this point, there is no reliability.   The values of the left are immoral, and these are values that will pollute his ministry.
I pray he does get a conviction from God about these things, Though I can't assume that he would listen to me.

Yet this affirms the bigger picture.

Southern Baptist are being seduced by worldliness.  It is not the blunt attack on orthodoxy which we have seen with liberalism.  It is more like germ warfare.
15 years ago The denomination was much stronger in a conservative resurgence.  But the dog seems to have returned to it's vomit and apostasy has made a comeback.  We have tried to play dog-catcher with feather dusters.
We must have repentance and discipleship starting personally and continued
in public separation from the ways of the world.  We need to read Our bibles as literally true without deception.
It is scary to figure out how many sbc churches have walked away from scripture.  The time for either ignoring or complaining ended long ago.  It is time to act.
