The point of the article is not to say that the baptist faith and message provides us with the most thorough description of the trinity. But this is in response to a claim that the baptist faith and message does indeed confess the trinity and therefore excludes the doctrine known as modalism

Well we see that it can be described as "consisting of three parts",
Well a person is commonly understood as more than just a part. However, persons can be part of a larger body of persons as in a "party"

So we find nothing nefarious in this statement by BF&M 2000 and it is expressing the trinity,

B. God the Son

C. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

So we see here pain staking effort here to describe each person of the trinity. Which a modalist would simply not waste their time on.

the majority of modalists in contemporary culture are known as "oneness" and have "jesus only" doctrine. They argue that we should baptize in the name of Jesus and only and would the southern baptist doctrine of baptism to be blasphemy.

Here in the BF&M we see two statements that show distinctions between the work of the fsther vs the work of the Son. God the father plays the role of Father to the believers. God the Son plays the role of bride to the believers. Of course the Bible teaches incest is forbidden so this is a problem for modalist theology but not for trinitarianism. Finally the Holy spirit does the earthly work as Jesus and the Father are in Heaven. The Son submits to His father and so the spirit is the exalting Christ. thus distinguishing 3 person.

While this is not an exhaustive study I believe this makes a cummulative case that the baptist Faith and message is thoroughly Trinitarian.
At the Southern baptist convention 2024. The notion was brought up that the SBC should adopt the nicene creed should be inserted into the baptist Faith and message. That this should be required because the BF&M supposedly did not address the trinity.
First of all. the BF&M does explain the trinity. Secondly, the BF&M is not the Final authority, scripture is the final authority. Thirdly the Nicene creed though good at cobnfessing the trinity was designed with specifric ties to the Roman Catholic church. The creed has issues of sacramanetlism and hooks into a series of catholic creeds which draws people to a false roman catholic gospel and towards works based salvation. Fourthly, the nicene creed and the creedalist system has been and utterly should be a source of historical embarasssment. As the fruit of this document has been a dark history of forced conversions, genocide, wars and is currently used as a shield of protection for bible attacking liberalism. it is very simple and easy to simply espouse the trinity without paying homage to this heathen system.
Thus southern baptist have historically stould for peace.
