The 1800's gave the western civilization a new empire of thought. An entire Empire of thought. These disciplines can over whelm the mind especially when applied to youth.
And so it has been used to erode away the protestant foundation of an American worldview. When christians try to give people the gospel, they have left them intellectually naked as the gospel was left without biblical context and placed in the package of marketing. then delivered to a palace with no room offered to Christ.
We have to understand the weight of knowledge before we decide how to organize what we have learned. How do we know what we know? The Atheist Philosopher Frederic Nietzsche put for the concept of two wills: The will to Power and the will to Truth. The will to power is the motivation in life to obtained more power. The will to truth is the motivation to find and adhere to the truth. In Nietzsche's Atheistic worldview there is no objective truth. therefore we should focus on obtaining power in life. As a Christian I take the opposite approach. The will to power is destructive and self and the Truth comes from God. Therefore we live in light of the Judgement of God and seek to find the truth to follow Him. Now when we apply these principles to the topic we look and see how much these sources of information are effected by the will to power and which by the will to truth to determine the most accurate levels of information. Thus I argue that the revelation of scripture is the most accurate as it comes from God, logic would follow, then History, then Science, Politics and finally Economics.
I completed this series sometime ago but wanted to give individual attention to this first volume. The reason being that even though it is just introducing concepts. I feel people need to take these first steps before proceeding further. And dealing with the that freshman college level.

Discussion of God should first be a matter of Historical record and the philosophical implications should be dealt with after we have confirmed the record.

textual criticism is an art that developed during the period where evolution was first developing. theistic evolution obviously bled the philosophy into our understanding of scripture.
